Have you ever gone to bed and arisen to an interesting or somewhat peculiar dream? Perhaps you woke up to a dream that left you wondering what it meant or if there was some significance to it. Some people have many memorable dreams and others dream regularly but cannot recall their dreams once awake.
Sometimes God allows messages to appear within dreams causing us to remember them vividly no matter what our typical dream patterns are. When this occurs, I find it best to always devote those few waking moments to replay in my mind the events of the dream and look carefully with spiritual lenses for what the Lord may be trying to tell me.
As we know, God used dreams to communicate with a number of individuals in the Bible from Joseph "King of Dreams" to the many prophets and leaders that came before and after him.
The purpose of this blog post is not to merely highlight the importance of dreams, but to shine light on the significance of God's forms of communicating with us. For some, the Lord may speak through a dream... For others, He may use the gift of prophesy or even the people and events in our lives...
The point is, God can communicate with us in a multitude of ways, and we just have to be ready and receptive to hearing His message. Some may ask the question, "but how do I know when the Lord is telling me something?" I can't give a definitive answer because that is likely unique to each individual person. Personally, what I experience is a strong sense of the Holy Spirit pulling or stirring within my core which lets me know it's not just my own thoughts or worse, the deceitful voice of the enemy.
So friends, I do encourage you to think about the things that stand out to you in some way when you have interesting experiences and dreams. Asking yourself the question, "What does it mean?" will open the door to further understanding. Doing this while praying for the Holy Spirit to add clarity and understanding will allow you to become more in tune with the unique way God chooses to communicate you.
